General therapy

For individuals or families with issues relating to:

  • mood problems

  • anxiety or phobias

  • relationships

  • drug and alcohol use

  • anger management

  • self esteem concerns

  • eating disorders

What is involved?

Counselling as an individual, couple or family. Sessions are 60 minutes in duration.

A referral from your GP may enable you to claim a rebate of $87.45 for a general psychologist, or $128.40 for a clinical psychologist, per session, for up to 10 sessions in each calendar year.

Fees

The Australian Psychological Society recommended fee for psychologists is $254 per 45-60 minute consultation (2019-2020 rate).

Our standard fee is $200 per consultation hour with a Clinical Psychologist (GST exempt). An appointment with the Director, Principal Clinical Psychologist is $260.

 

Mediation and Family Dispute Resolution (FDR)

For families undergoing separation or couples endeavouring to develop Parenting Plans focusing on the best interests of their children.

What is involved?

A process of cooperative problem solving to reach agreement on issues such as parenting and financial settlement. Generally involves 3-6 sessions of two hours duration each.

Forensic or Court assessments and reports

Forensic psychological reporting for criminal matters, single expert reports and testimony, Federal Circuit Court psychologist assessments (formerly Family Law Court), Children’s Court reports, District and Supreme Court matters, Immigration Review Tribunal assessments, Administrative Appeals, and other forensic psychological services.

What is involved?

Letter of instruction from the Lawyer involved.

Price on enquiry. Attracts 10% GST.

 

IQ, academic and learning assessments (adults and children)

Specialist psychological assessment of intellectual ability, giftedness, learning difficulties, emotional problems, head injuries, dementia or general personality problems.

What is involved?

Clinical interview and individual testing using standardised assessment tools. For young children, attendance by a parent or guardian is required. Assessment usually takes 3-4 hours. Psychological report provided 3-4 weeks after assessment.

Medico-Legal Assessment (Adult)

Clinical evaluation of an individual following an accident or injury. The case may involve insurance claims and/or court-related matters.

What is involved?

Clinical interview and individual assessment using standardised assessment tools.
Usually takes 3-4 hours.

Employee Assistance Programs (EAP)

An EAP is for employers who would like to provide their employees with counselling services. EAPs are designed to provide preventive and proactive interventions for the early identification and resolution of work or personal problems that may adversely affect the performance and wellbeing of employees. These issues may include relationships, trauma, substance abuse, gambling and other addictions, depression, anxiety disorders, communication problems and coping with change.

What is involved?

Services can be contracted to an organisation. Anonymous individual counselling is then provided as per service contract. No employee details are provided back to the employer, as per our normal privacy policy.
